School Year Begins

Summer is over. School is back in session. I'm sure you are like me wishing for the relaxation of summer as you drive kids to and from sports and activities.

Two of my children swim during the school year. School-year swimming is different. Why? Is it the indoor pool? The more focused competitive meets? The kids are on a team, but there is less time during the school year to be a team. No long days lounging at the pool. Homework and other commitments are a factor. School-year seems all business, while summer swimming is all fun!

Do your children swim during the school year? Jessica and James swim at Health Unlimited. I've see swimmers...Matt, Robert, Nate, Robert, Jesse, and Matt...at HU as well. Where do your kids swim? I'd like to know what school-year swim teams are out there. I know of the Eagles and the Retrievers. What are the other teams? e-mail me: JillAnneBerry@msn.com If your kids play another sport(s) during the school year, let me know! Wahoos are a talented group of athletes, musicians, etc. Let's showcase our talents!

My plan is to keep this blog/website going during the school year as a resource for Wahoos parents and swimmers. Would you like to write an article? On swimming or sportsmanship or being a good sports parent or swimsuits or diving sticks or just about anything that has even a little to do with swimming! Let me know! Send me your article with a photo to JillAnneBerry@msn.com If you find a link to an article on swimming, send me a link.

Last Gasp of Summer Events at the Pool

Coach Jill loved the photo album. She was astounded by the number of photos. She loved that all families were represented in the family section of the album. I can't wait for next swim season to do it all again!

I plan on posting news throughout the school year, so stay tuned.

What's your opinion on swimmers wearing high-tech swim suits to improve their performance? Do you think it is fair that some swimmers have an unfair advantage? Or should swimmers be allowed to spend what they want on swim suits? Runners are not restricted to buying certain shoes.

The Washington Post took on the issue of Masters swimmers wearing the performance suits.

What do you think? Send me an e-mail and I will compile all responses in to a post. I won't use names, so go ahead and state an opinion.
