A Swim Meet for 6-Unders!! July 20th at Cattail Creek!

Attention Wahoo parents of 6-under swimmers!

Cattail Creek Country Club is hosting a MINI meet for 6-Unders only. This is a voluntary meet for your children who are 6 and under swimmers. Here are the details:

Mini “Fun” Meet
July 20, 2010 at 6 p.m.

Events:

25 M Freestyle, 25 M Backstroke, 25 M Breaststroke, 

25 M Butterfly & 25 M Kickboard Race

Awards:

Heat Winner Ribbons, 1st thru 6th Place Ribbons, 

and Participant Ribbons

Tight Races at 1st Meet

The Wahoos narrowly missed a win at the first meet v. Dulaney. We were strong in some age categories. Lacked a little depth in other age groups. Through it all Wahoos swimmers showed grit and determination.

Yearround swimmers had a slight edge due to rigorous and frequent practices during the school year. Summer swimmers jumped in to the pool earlier this summer from lacrosse, softball, baseball, soccer, track, band, and any number of other activities. With only a few weeks of practice, summer swimmers quickly got up to speed.

As Coach Jill pointed out at the pre-meet pep talk/cheer session, Wahoos swimmers have only had two morning practices and a few weeks of afterschool practices to get ready for the 2010 season. Thanks to #Snomageddon and an extended school year, summer swim season got a late start.

Practice Schedule Before School Is Out

The West Howard Wahoos Swim Team is in session for Summer 2009!

Practice before school is dismissed for the summer:

May 27, 28, 29
June 1, 2, 4, 5, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 15, 16

3:30 - 4:30 p.m. – ages 13 and over
4:30 - 5:00 p.m. – ages 8 and under
5:00 - 5:45 p.m. – ages 9-10
5:45 - 6:30 p.m. – ages 11-12

Last three half days of school: (June 17, 18, 19):
12:30 - 1:30 p.m. – ages 13 and over
1:30 - 2:15 p.m. – ages 11-12
2:15 - 3:00 p.m. – ages 9-10
3:00 - 3:30 p.m. – ages 8 – under

Monday through Friday mornings when school is dismissed:

8:30 - 9:30 a.m. - ages 13 and over
9:30 - 10:15 a.m. – ages 11-12
10:15 - 11:00 a.m. – ages 9-10
11:00 - 11:45 a.m. - 8 – unders and Stroke Clinic**

**Stroke Clinic is an optional opportunity for extended practice. It is strongly recommended for beginning swimmers in order to improve their four basic strokes, starts and turns through small group instruction and individual feedback from the coaches.
