Swimmers of the Week for Week Ending June 20, 2009

From Coach Jill...

10-Under Swimmers of the Week
For week ending 6/20/09

Female: Sarah Kemp - 7
Sarah is a second-year swimmer who has a great enthusiasm for swimming. She is doing a great job in her freestyle and backstroke technique, and has also perfected her breaststroke (quite an accomplishment for a 7-year-old!). In Saturday’s meet, she did 3 personal best times, improving by a total of 6 seconds in freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke!!!

Male: Matthew Poltorak - 10
Matthew is new swimmer who has shown amazing improvement since the season began. He is always willing to do whatever the coaches ask and has already accomplished doing a legal breaststroke! His hard work resulted in three great races on Saturday where he took off over 4 seconds in freestyle, 5 in backstroke and another 5 in breaststroke – all just since time trials!!

11-Over Swimmers of the Week
For week ending 6/20/09

Female: Jessica Smith - 13
Jessica is a new swimmer on the team this year who has made great improvement in a very short time. She works hard in practice and has even been seen doing extra work on learning flip turns on her own time. Jessica did best times in her two individual events at our first meet and gave her winning relay team a great head start as lead-off swimmer!!

Male: Peter Valavanis - 17
Peter is a veteran senior Wahoo swimmer who is always consistent in practice and dependable at meets. He swam two personal best times on Saturday, including a 2.5 second improvement in 100 freestyle, resulting in a 3rd place finish! He also swam a personal best lead-off split in the 15-18 relay, gaining a sizable lead on South Carroll for his team which won 1st place!
